FailSpace is an AHRC-funded research project exploring how the cultural sector can better recognise, acknowledge and learn from failure.

The research is based on the principle that learning from failure should be an integral part of the process of making work but our research suggests that this is rarely part of evaluation processes, which tend to focus on celebratory success stories with limited critical reflection of what could be done better next time.

The project, led by Leila Jancovich (University of Leeds), with David Stevenson (Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh), created a framework and along with Lucy Wright and Malaika Cunningham a toolkit to support more honest and open conversations about failure.

Now the research is complete, to ensure a free and open access legacy for these resources they have been moved to the Centre for Cultural Value website

Their findings from the research are also free open access and you can read their article here or book here. Alternatively contact the research team directly via the links above.
